The Planning Team was hired to facilitate a wide variety of community involvement opportunities including

  • Steering committee meetings;
  • Informative and interactive public meetings;
  • Workshops; and
  • Surveys, interviews, and other feedback

to create a comprehensive plan that builds on the community’s strengths and opportunities while guiding future development and redevelopment.

About Comprehensive Plans

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) requires each of its cities and counties to create and update a comprehensive plan every decade. In 2008, Rome-Floyd County completed its most recent comprehensive plan, meaning it is time to make necessary updates to the plan! The comprehensive plan update will result in a new Comprehensive Plan that will guide Rome, Floyd County, and Cave Spring out to 2040. The revised plan will address the community’s vision, policies, and goals based on the existing plan and community involvement. A new community work program will be established with short and long term implementation items.
